Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to his community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on their farm in Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained a degree as an educator. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in his time in college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men of the United States. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. In his time at college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
