Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, TV personality, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. Her role also includes being the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Her move out of Greece to England aged 16 where she received an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. The famous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it at the age of 21. As a conservative syndicated blogger, after graduating she went on to become the voice of Huffington Post. The fame she gained helped her to convince several stars to voice their views on current events, as well as politics and culture. Arianna first gained notoriety in 2003 as she stood in California's recall vote, in the place of Governor Davis. She was also involved in the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for fuel-efficient automobiles. In 2009, she was ranked by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th place on the listing and the following year Guardian included her in the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as head of its media division and also included several additional AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, an expert in management and a journalist. Though she was close to her father it was her relationship with her mother that shaped her character. At a young age she demonstrated the leadership abilities that she is still known for. As a 16-year-old the girl moved to the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she was a member of the college debate society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with an education in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she was a journalist and TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
