Amy Smart is an American former actress and model. Her modeling career started in Italy in Italy, where she was raised and was born in California. Her Costly Affair, a 1996 TV film that she played her first part in, was her debut part. Her struggle to land a part in Starship Troopers, a film that featured mostly minor roles, was very intense. It was very difficult for her to transition from modelling to acting as models were not considered to be good actors and tended to be assigned smaller roles that were insignificant. Yet, somehow Amy did not give up and stepped into more prestigious roles. It all started with the TV series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. In the course of a couple of years Amy stepped into bigger roles. The film she starred in was the love story Just Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Amy gained recognition after more than 10 years of struggling. Amy went on to star in major film projects such as the Crank Series alongside Jason Statham, and Shameless.
